Homebuyer Education

Classes for prospective homebuyers are offered monthly and are open to anyone in the communities of Clallam and Jefferson Counties. Classes are taught by partner lenders and realtors who have received training through the Washington State Housing Finance Commission. (WSHFC) At the completion of the 6-hour class each participant receives a certificate which is good for 24 months. Completion of this class is a requirement of Habitat for Humanity, Homeward Bound, USDA/Rural Development and WSHFC House Key loans.

Classes provide the full spectrum of information on the home buying process. This includes all aspects of the home buying process, such as eligibility requirements of special home buying programs, the process of making loan application, things to consider in visiting possible homes for purchase, the nuts and bolts of an inspection, and what the closing process entails. At the completion of the class applications for one-on-one Housing Counseling are made available.
